Sir Robert Ho Tung Fund allocates grants to 173 charitable projects

The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund has allocated $7.5 million to 173 charitable projects in the areas of medicine and health, rehabilitation, social welfare, education and community service in the 2016 allocation.
A spokesman for the fund's Allocation Committee said today (January 27), "The fund's donation enables almost 100 organisations to enhance their services, which will benefit a large number of people, especially the underprivileged."
Major grants included:
* $781,800 for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to purchase medical and rehabilitation equipment and to organise education camps for children with special needs;
* $748,800 for the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association to acquire medical equipment for Grantham Hospital and Ruttonjee and Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals;
* $362,300 for Queen Elizabeth Hospital to acquire medical equipment;
* $310,200 for the Po Leung Kuk to acquire nursing and rehabilitation equipment and organise programmes for children with special needs;
* $299,800 for Queen Mary Hospital to acquire medical equipment;
* $277,300 for Yan Chai Hospital to acquire medical and rehabilitation equipment;
* $220,000 for Prince of Wales Hospital to acquire medical equipment;
* $214,700 for the Hong Kong St John Ambulance to provide first aid training for the general public;
* $204,800 for United Christian Hospital to acquire medical equipment; and
* $200,000 for Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital to acquire medical equipment.
Other fund recipients included the Salvation Army, Caritas Lok Kan School, Pentecostal Church of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council, Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service, the Hong Kong Red Cross and the Yuen Yuen Institute.
The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund, one of the major trust funds in Hong Kong, was set up in 1956 with a bequest of $500,000 by the late Sir Robert Ho Tung. It is now managed by HSBC Trustee (Hong Kong) Limited.
