Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cannabis buds

Hong Kong Customs seized about 4.3 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds at Hong Kong International Airport yesterday (January 20) with an estimated market value of about $580,000.
On January 20, Customs officers examined an air consignment from Canada which was declared as clothing and uncovered the suspected cannabis buds concealed inside a plastic box. After investigation, Customs officers arrested a 23-year-old man suspected to be in connection with the case in Tsim Sha Tsui today (January 21). Investigation is ongoing. This is the second similar case detected by Customs in the airport in the past two days.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
