More than 2,300 applications were received, showing an increase of 10 per cent compared with the same period last year as well as the highest total application number among all past Police Recruitment Days (Winter). Amongst all, the number of application for Recruit Police Constable was 1,329 and that of Probationary Inspectors was 1,003, being the highest among the past Police Recruitment Days (Winter) and all Police Recruitment Days respectively.
The Force has been adopting a proactive recruitment strategy to attract high calibre candidates who possess the required competencies to serve. A series of recruitment activities, such as Recruitment Days, are launched on an annual basis to reach out to potential candidates.
The Police Recruitment Day provides one-stop service to applicants, including initial screening and scheduling of written examination for Probationary Inspector candidates; initial screening and group interview for Recruit Police Constable candidates; and initial screening and seminar for Police Constable (Auxiliary) candidates.
Upon completion of the selection process, successful Probationary Inspector and Recruit Police Constable applicants will undergo training at the Hong Kong Police College, whereas successful Police Constable (Auxiliary) applicants will undergo training at the Auxiliary Police Headquarters.
In the financial year 2016-17, the Force aims to recruit 1,540 police officers, comprising 190 Probationary Inspectors and 1,350 Recruit Police Constables, while the Auxiliary Police Force aims to recruit 320 Police Constables (Auxiliary).
The Force will continue to regularly organise and participate in different kinds of recruitment events. The next major event will be the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Education and Careers Expo to be held between February 23 and 26 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai.
The Force accepts applications for Probationary Inspector, Recruit Police Constable and Police Constable (Auxiliary) year-round. Applicants should complete the application form at Police website or mail the completed form to the Police Recruitment Division.
