Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

Wah Ngai Air-condition Engineering Company Limited was fined $30,000 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (January 12) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on January 8, 2016 at a construction site in Tai Po. A worker, while changing the air duct insulation material of an air-conditioning system above the false ceiling of a factory, fell about 3 metres to the ground. He sustained serious head injuries and subsequently passed away.
