Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Tysan Foundation Limited and Wah Cheung Construction (Steel Fixing) Limited were fined $140,000 and $120,000 respectively at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (January 6) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on July 8, 2011, on a construction site in Tsuen Wan. Two workers while engaging in fabrication of a bored pile reinforcement cage were trapped to death when the reinforcement cage suddenly collapsed.
