The Subsidised Sale Flats Development at Fat Tseung Street West (Fat Tseung Street West Development) of the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) is scheduled for completion in 2020 with the provision of a 41-storey domestic block of 811 flats and a basement car park.
"While planning the Fat Tseung Street West Development, the HA has held local consultations and public engagement workshops, followed by revision of the master layout in response to comments and feedback received. By orientating the domestic flats away from noise sources and adopting suitable noise mitigating measures, the original two single-aspect domestic blocks were revised to one double-loaded domestic block with a view to preserving the visual link and natural ventilation of the area," an HA spokesman said today (January 2).
At the early planning stage of the Fat Tseung Street West Development, views collected from local consultations and public engagement workshops were adequately considered in optimising the master layout. The block disposition enables deferred closing of the existing Fat Tseung Street West Playground to minimise disruption to public services.
While the main entrance also provides vehicular access, it is segregated from the pedestrian route by a roadway to the basement carpark near the entrance. Residents can then enjoy the open space of the development in a vehicle-free pedestrian environment. In addition, the site abuts public streets with exits on three sides, facilitating pedestrian access. The footbridge and lift tower adjacent to the main entrance also conveniently connect the residents to the public open spaces, retail facilities, community facilities, covered pedestrian network and transportation hubs at North West Kowloon Reclamation Site 6.
The Fat Tseung Street West Development is scheduled for completion in 2020 and will form part of a vibrant community following the completions of other new public housing developments in the Cheung Sha Wan area. This project was earlier awarded by the Hong Kong Green Building Council the highest platinum rating in the BEAM Plus Neighbourhood Pilot-testing Project.
