Correctional officers stop fighting among persons in custody

     Correctional officers at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre stopped a fight among persons in custody today (December 27).

     At 7.57am, five male persons in custody aged between 27 and 43 were involved in a fight in a dayroom of Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre. An officer at the scene immediately stopped the fight with the use of OC foam after repeated warning was to no avail.

     The five persons in custody were sent to the centre hospital for treatment. During the incident, the officer sustained minor injuries on fingers and lower jaw. His condition was fine after receiving treatment from a medical officer of the centre hospital. One person in custody who sustained head injury was referred to a public hospital for further examination. After examination, he did not need admission to the public hospital and was sent back to Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre the same day. The other four persons in custody did not need to be sent to public hospital after examination and treatment in centre hospital.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
