Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok this morning (December 18) in which a man died.
At about 4am, a taxi driven by a 57-year-old man was travelling along Lin Cheung Road towards Western Harbour Tunnel. When approaching near Cherry Street, it reportedly knocked down a man who was crossing the road. A private car, driven by a 21-year-old man, travelled from behind and reportedly hit the man.
The man was trapped under the private car and rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries to his head and leg, he was certified dead at scene. No identity document was found in the deceased’s possession. The deceased was believed to be 60 to 70 years old. He was about 1.6 metres tall and was of thin build with grey hair. He was wearing grey jacket, blue trousers and carrying a walking frame.
The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West is underway.
