The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, attended the C40 Mayors Summit 2016 Opening Ceremony in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 30 (Mexico City time).

     The three-day C40 Mayors Summit programme, officially opened during the ceremony held in the evening, commenced earlier in the day. In the afternoon, Mr Wong joined a lunch gathering with delegation members of other C40 member cities in the East Asia region. He also attended the C40 Steering Committee meeting and exchanged views with officials from C40 Steering Committee member cities about the work in combating climate change.

     On December 1 (Mexico City time), Mr Wong will take part in various sessions of the C40 Summit and deliver a keynote speech on energy saving at the session "Less is More: Energy, Buildings and our Urban Future". Afterwards, he will attend the C40 Cities Awards Ceremony.
