HA releases Medication Safety Bulletin
**************************************
The Hospital Authority (HA) today (November 25) published the new issue of the biannual Medication Safety Bulletin (MSB), which is one of the Authority's regular publications to promote risk management among healthcare professionals in public hospitals.
The latest issue highlights major changes in the newly updated HA Medication Safety Guidelines. In addition, a new function was added in the Clinical Management System providing a more structured platform on drug allergy information.
The bulletin provides a detailed account on previous medication incidents, and gives recommendations for healthcare staff on the ways to reduce risk in the handling of lookalike and soundalike medications. New Territories East Cluster also shares experience in the reporting of near-miss cases.
The publication has already been posted on the web for sharing with healthcare professionals. Members of the public are also welcome to browse it at the following link: www.ha.org.hk/msb.
The MSB is published every six months, on the last Fridays of May and November. The next issue will be published on May 26, 2017.
