Correctional Services Department holds 64th Autumn Fair (with photos)
*********************************************************************
The opening ceremony of the fair was officiated by the spouse of the Chairman of the Committee on Community Support for Rehabilitated Offenders, Mrs Shirley Siu.
The theme of this year's fair was "Caring for Hong Kong", which depicts Hong Kong as a city full of love. A tasting corner was set up where snacks made by persons in custody of six different correctional training restaurants were served to the public. The event enabled them to share the skills and achievements they have gained from vocational training at the institutions.
The 64th Autumn Fair also had booths selling items made by persons in custody including rattan products, wood furniture, plants, handicrafts and toys. The opening ceremony featured a lion dance by the 221st Hong Kong Group, Scout Association of Hong Kong, a Chinese drum performance by persons in custody from Cape Collinson Correctional Institution, and a demonstration by dogs from the CSD Dog Unit.
Various organisations were invited to perform at the fair. The People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison staged a group gun show and a grand military band performance. Other performing groups included a band and a motorcycling team from the Civil Aid Service, school cheerleaders and rope skipping.
The Best Stall Competition prize was won by Shek Pik Prison. The Best Product award went to Shek Pik Prison for its "CSD Shield Holder" (product).
After deducting costs, the funds raised from sales and donations through various channels at the fair will go to more than 40 voluntary agencies and beneficiary organisations. The event also provided opportunities for persons in custody to make a contribution to the community.
