Henan Liaison Unit commences operation
**************************************
The Henan Liaison Unit (HALU) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) came into operation today (September 28) with the aim of assisting Hong Kong people and companies to better capitalise on the opportunities brought about by the development of the Mainland's central region.
Located in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province, the HALU has been set up under the HKSARG's Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Wuhan (Wuhan ETO).
The Director of the Wuhan ETO, Miss Sara Tse, said, "The HALU will work towards strengthening relations between Hong Kong and Henan Province and its municipalities by enhancing government-to-government co-operation. It will also promote exchange and co-operation between Hong Kong and the relevant province and municipalities on economic and trade and cultural fronts as well as provide support to Hong Kong residents and companies in the area."
The Chief Executive announced in his 2016 Policy Address that a liaison unit would be set up in Henan Province this year. The Wuhan ETO has been working closely with the relevant authorities of Henan Province and Zhengzhou City to make preparations for the setting up of the HALU.
The HALU is initially operating from a temporary office so as to commence service as early as possible. The temporary office is located at Room 1822, 18/F, Block D, Kineer IFC, 88 East Jinshui Road, Zhengdong New District, Zhengzhou (Tel: (86 371) 5361 2524; email: halu@wheto.gov.hk). The HALU is actively pursuing the setting up of a long-term office, and relevant details will be announced in due course.
