Transcript of remarks by FS in Hangzhou
***************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at a media session in Hangzhou this evening (September 5):
Reporter: Do you think the Hong Kong Legislative Council Election will start to offer you more confidence or increase the possibility for you to run in the Chief Executive Election next year?
Financial Secretary: That’s a complicated question. I have seen some of the results. I haven’t had much time to really study it. I think I’ll leave the analysis to the academics in Hong Kong. But what is really, really important is that I get to know these legislators as soon as possible, so that we can establish a channel that we can work together, that we can communicate better.
Reporter: What would you say about the high turnout rate? Will it reflect that Hong Kong people want change in the political landscape in Hong Kong?
Financial Secretary: I think we probably need to have some academics study the figures further before they can give you a more conclusive analysis of what has happened in this election. But I think what we need to do is to try to get to understand the new legislators, get to know them better so that we can communicate.
