Secretary for Justice to visit Australia

The Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC, will visit Sydney, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Melbourne in Australia from August 8 to 13 to promote Hong Kong as an international legal and dispute resolution services centre in the Asia-Pacific region and update the local community on Hong Kong's latest developments.
Mr Yuen will first visit Sydney, where he will speak at a luncheon organised by the Law Society of New South Wales on the "one country, two systems" policy and the development of common law jurisprudence in Hong Kong. In addition, he will meet with the Acting Governor of New South Wales and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Mr TF Bathurst, and the Attorney General of New South Wales, Ms Gabrielle Upton. He will also meet with Hong Kong people in Sydney.
While in the Gold Coast, Mr Yuen will visit the Dispute Resolution Centre at Bond University. He will then visit Brisbane, where he will meet with the Attorney-General of Queensland, Ms Yvette D'Ath.
During his stay in Melbourne, Mr Yuen will speak at a gathering organised by the Law Institute of Victoria on the latest developments of dispute resolution services in Hong Kong. He will also deliver a keynote speech at the Business Awards Gala Dinner organised by the Hong Kong Australia Business Association (Victoria Chapter). He will meet with the Governor of Victoria, Ms Linda Dessau.
Apart from meeting with senior government officials, Mr Yuen will meet with leaders in legal and dispute resolution services sectors as well as legal scholars.
He will return to Hong Kong in the evening on August 13.
