The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (August 5) that the Environmental Protection Department has classified the water quality at Silver Mine Bay Beach and Lower Cheung Sha Beach in Islands District as Grade 2, which means the water quality has improved. The red flags were hoisted on the beaches earlier on due to the water quality being classified as Grade 4 and unsuitable for swimming.
Silver Mine Bay Beach is now suitable for swimming and the red flag has been lowered. However, Lower Cheung Sha Beach is temporarily closed for maintenance of the shark prevention net.
