In response to media enquiries, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, today (August 4) reiterated that the Electoral Affairs Commission, Returning Officers and the Registration and Electoral Office as well as all public officers responsible for election matters have all along handled election-related matters in strict accordance with the Basic Law, the relevant legislation and legal advice, as well as the principle of political neutrality, impartiality and adherence to the law with a view to ensuring that elections will be held in an open, fair and honest manner.
