Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Yau Shing Air-cond. Equipment Engineering Limited and Kong Ngai Scaffolding Limited were fined $7,000 and $16,000 respectively at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (August 1) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on October 23, 2015, at an upper-floor unit in Yuen Long. A scaffolder fell to his death from 12/F to the ground while dismantling a truss-out bamboo scaffold at the external wall of a residential building.
