Following is the transcript of remarks by the Acting Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, at a media session after attending short film premiere and youth exchange session on retirement protection consultation organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups today (June 18):
Reporter: Regarding the case of Mr Lam (Wing-kee), do you think the government has done enough? Do you think the government also needs to clarify on some of the points Mr Lam has said?
Acting Chief Secretary for Administration: The government attaches great importance to this case. In fact the Acting Chief Executive and the Secretary for Justice yesterday reiterated the government's position clearly that we certainly, in handling Hong Kong affairs, will strictly adhere to the "one country, two systems" formula and also in accordance with the Basic Law. Also we are attaching great importance to protecting and safeguarding the freedom and safety of Hong Kong citizens as well.
