Statutory "restricted areas" designated at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal
**********************************************************

The Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Ordinance (Cap 627) commenced on June 10, 2016. The Ordinance provides for the designation of the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and for its use, operation, management and control so as to uphold the security of the Terminal and to ensure its smooth operation. In exercising her power under section 9 of the Ordinance, the Commissioner for Tourism has designated the "restricted areas" of the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal by a notice published in the Gazette today (June 17).

Access to the designated statutory "restricted areas" is governed by the relevant provisions of the Ordinance. The "restricted areas" include "permanent restricted areas" and "non-permanent restricted areas". The "non-permanent restricted areas" may cease to be "restricted areas" during a specified period as declared by the Commissioner for Tourism (or her delegates) by a notice to cater for operational needs or to facilitate the use of the "non-permanent restricted areas" as event venues.

The plans which delineate the "restricted areas" are available on the website of the Tourism Commission (www.tourism.gov.hk/english/papers/papers_restricted_areas.html) and at the office of the Tourism Commission for public inspection.
