Appointment of Chairman and Member to Advisory Committee on Post-service Employment of Civil Servants

     The Government announced today (June 1) that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Vincent Lo Wing-sang as Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Post-service Employment of Civil Servants from June 1, 2016, to August 31, 2017. Mr Lo will succeed Professor Chan Yuk-shee, who has tendered his resignation from the chairmanship for health reasons.

     Professor Chan had served on the Committee since July 14, 2013. He was appointed as the Chairman from July 14, 2015, to July 13, 2017. Professor Chan recently tendered for health reasons his resignation from the chairmanship, which was accepted by the Chief Executive.

     The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Clement Cheung, said, "The Government is grateful to Professor Chan for his outstanding performance and dedicated contribution to the work of the Committee. We are sad to hear about his departure, and we would like to offer him our best wishes."

     Mr Lo has been a serving member of the Committee since September 1, 2011, and his current term of membership will expire on August 31, 2017. Mr Lo is conversant with both the work of the Committee and civil service matters. He is well positioned to succeed the chairmanship.

     In addition, the Chief Executive has also re-appointed Mrs Jean Au Yeung Lui Miu-kwan as member of the Committee for a term of two years from July 17, 2016, to July 16, 2018.

     The Committee advises the Government on matters relating to the post-service employment of civil servants. Its secretariat support is provided by the Joint Secretariat for the Advisory Bodies on Civil Service and Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service. Other serving members of the Committee are Mr Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen, Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, Mr Lee Ming-kwai, Mr Francis Mok Gar-lon, Miss Melissa Wu and Mr Herbert Tsoi Hak-kong.
