Temporary water pipe leakage at Mun Ching House in Kai Ching Estate
************************************************************

One of the joints of the temporary copper pipe for fresh water supply at the pipe duct room on the 14th floor of Mun Ching House, Kai Ching Estate, was found loosened and leaking at around 6am today (April 15), causing the drinking water supply of about 50 units of the building and service of two lifts to be suspended.

The Housing Department expressed deep regret over the inconvenience caused to the affected tenants and has already urged the contractor, China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (China State), to repair the loosened pipe joint at once and inspect other similar water pipe joints in order to prevent recurrence of such an incident.

The water supply of Mun Ching House resumed at about 9.40am and the two lifts resumed service at around 3pm and 6.30pm respectively. China State will install additional brackets as a precautionary measure to reinforce the pipe joints.

Affected tenants who need assistance can contact the estate management office. The temporary water pipe joint leakage today will not affect progress of the rectification pipe work in the common areas of Kai Ching Estate, which started in mid-March.
