Woman arrested for infanticide in Tsuen Wan

     Police yesterday (April 11) arrested a 37-year-old expatriate woman in suspected connection with an infanticide case in Tsuen Wan on April 4.

     About 7.45pm that day, Police received a report that a suspected baby body was found inside a plastic bag in a washroom of a shopping centre at 42 Castle Peak Road ﷿ Sham Tseng. Police officers sped to the scene and located the baby body. Initial examination revealed that the baby, with an umbilical cord and placenta attached, was a newborn boy.

     Upon investigation, Police arrested a 37-year-old expatriate woman in Central yesterday for infanticide. She is being detained for further enquiries. Initial investigation revealed that she had suspectedly abandoned the baby boy after giving birth to him inside a unit in Tsuen Wan.

     Investigation by the District Crime Squad of Tsuen Wan District is underway.
