Wounding case in Sau Mau Ping reclassified as manslaughter

     Police today (January 19) reclassified a wounding case in Sau Mau Ping on October 10 last year as manslaughter.

     About 10.25am that day, Police received a report that a 58-year-old man was attacked after disputing with a 46-year-old man at a restaurant in Tin Kuen House of Shun Tin Estate.                           

     Police officers sped to the scene and located the 58-year-old man who sustained injuries to his head and hands. He was rushed to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state and was later transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

     After investigation, Police arrested the 46-year-old man in Sau Mau Ping for wounding on the same day. He was holding charged with one count of wounding and appeared before Kwun Tong Magistrates﷿ Courts on October 12, 2015.

     The injured man was certified dead at 12.54pm on January 16 this year. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death.

     Active investigation by the Crime Unit of Sau Mau Ping District is under way.
