Retired athletes boost sport in schools

     For retired triathlete Samuel Leung, a project to promote a sporting culture in schools gives him the opportunity to gain sports-related work experience while training students and helping to identify and develop potential sports talent.

     As the School Sports Programme Coordinator for Chinese YMCA College in Ma On Shan, he has introduced five new sports and set up 14 teams in the last three years. He has also studied hard himself to earn a health education degree and other qualifications, with the goal of becoming a phys-ed teacher.

     News.gov.hk spoke to Mr Leung and some of the students and staff who have benefited from the scheme who describe how sports participation has enhanced their lives.
