Twenty-four building plans approved in January

     The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in January, with three on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 16 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and one was for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 66 462 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1 099 units, and 59 620 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 12 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and two in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 20 163 sq m, involving 233 units, and 37 337 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled about $1.4 billion.

     In addition, 11 demolition consents involving 11 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 915 reports about unauthorised building works in January, and issued 375 removal orders on unauthorised works.
