Members of the public are invited to visit the Exhibition of Primary School Students' Creative Visual Arts Work (2012/13), which is being held from today (June 28) until July 23 at the Education Bureau (EDB) Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.
A spokesman for the EDB said, "The exhibition, organised by the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute, aims to display and acknowledge primary school students' accomplishments in visual arts creation and enable students and teachers to learn from each other."
On display are about 500 artworks which have been selected from 1,223 entries from 110 primary schools. The exhibits cover different topics and a wide range of art forms and media including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and design. An artist's statement is attached to each exhibit to provide viewers with more information to appreciate and interpret the artwork.
The spokesman added, "To encourage more students of various ages to submit their entries, participants were categorised into two age groups, 6 to 8 years old and 9 years old or above. In each group, grand prizes and honourable mentions were selected from four categories, namely two-dimensional work, three-dimensional work, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and media art."
The adjudicators selecting the awarded entries included the Assistant Professor of Academy of Visual Arts of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Dr Koon Wai-bong; the Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator of the Hong Kong Art School, Ms Lam Laam; the Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Designers Association and Head of Department of Design Foundation Studies of the Hong Kong Design Institute, Dr Lam Yan-yan; retired Senior Inspector (Art), Mr Lee Sau-kee, and representatives of the Arts Education Section.
