The Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2013 is now open for nominations. Industry practitioners and tenants of public rental housing estates are invited to nominate industry elites to recognise their outstanding performance.
Widely recognised in the construction and maintenance industry, the Awards is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and various industry associations and labour unions. With a view to "enhancing quality and professionalism in construction and maintenance", it recognises contractors, project teams, supervisors and workers for their outstanding performance in the construction and maintenance of public housing projects, as well as encouraging technological developments and exchange and sharing among the industry for continuous improvement.
The Awards come in two categories, namely "New Works Projects" and "Maintenance and Improvement Projects", including awards for individuals, project teams, contractors, projects, site safety and also commendation for the use of innovative technology. Assessment criteria include work quality, site safety, occupational safety and health, environmental protection, ethical integrity, partnership and customer service.
The Awards is co-organised by Hong Kong Construction Association Limited, Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Limited, Hong Kong Construction Sub-Contractors Association, Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General Union, Construction Site Workers General Union, Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Engineering and Appliances Trade Workers Union, Hong Kong General Union of Lift and Escalator Employees, the Labour Department, the Occupational Safety and Health Council, the Construction Industry Council and the Vocational Training Council.
Nomination forms can be obtained at offices of all public housing estates of the HA, the HA Headquarters, offices of construction and maintenance contractors of the HA or downloaded from the HA/Housing Department Web Site (www.housingauthority.gov.hk). Completed nomination forms should reach the HA Headquarters on or before July 31.
