The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, said today (November 26) that in addition to issuing a statement on his property on the Peak (Peak residence) last Friday (November 23), he had at the same time asked authorised persons (AP) to contact the Buildings Department (BD) to arrange a meeting to follow up on the problematic structures at his Peak residence.
Referring to his statement issued last Friday, the Chief Executive said that the AP would co-operate fully with BD and complete the remaining removal and dismantling works as soon as possible according to BD's instructions. The Chief Executive reiterated that after purchasing his Peak residence, he had taken the initiative to submit applications to and had obtained approval from BD for additional buildings and alteration works. Since the publication of a news report in late June which pointed out that there were unauthorised building works in his property, he has always been handling the matter in an open, transparent and serious manner. Without any delay or obstruction, he provides timely and full co-operation to BD in conducting inspections. He also made arrangements for the media to visit his Peak property for reporting, and responded to media enquiries in person. The Chief Executive also appointed a professional team in the first instance to assist in solving the problems and dealing immediately with structures which alleged to be unauthorised building works.
The Chief Executive will continue to co-operate with government departments in taking actions to rectify any problem as soon as practicable.
