Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a meet-the-media session after he listened to people's views at Tung Tau Community Centre in Wong Tai Sin this afternoon (July 8):
Reporter: EOC is a watchdog against government policies. What if when the government rolls out policies that affects the laws﷿﷿
Chief Executive: We have a mechanism for anyone who finds himself or herself in a potential conflict situation during the deliberation of ExCo matters to withdraw from the meeting or to declare such potential conflict. It has been a long standing mechanism and has been a very effective mechanism. We have in the past a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission who was at that time, at the same time, a non-official member of the Executive Council, and no one thought there was any problem at that time and I don't think many people would actually think it would be a problem now.
