The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will hold an outdoor roving exhibition tomorrow (July 7) and this Sunday (July 8) at the Lee Garden Road Pedestrian Precinct in Causeway Bay as part of publicity efforts to promote the Motor Vehicle Idling (Fixed Penalty) Ordinance. The exhibition aims to enhance public understanding of the idling engine ban and to promote the green driving habit of switching off idling engines.
A spokesman for the EPD said today (July 6) that publicity and enforcement activities have been strengthened in different districts this summer to urge drivers to comply with the idling engine ban. Motorists are also encouraged to develop green driving habits so as to reduce the environmental nuisance caused by stationary vehicles with running engines and to improve roadside air quality.
"We have continuously reminded drivers to switch off the idling engines of stationary vehicles by distributing leaflets on the streets, staging outdoor roving exhibitions and providing publicity through various platforms. In addition, Traffic Wardens have been taking enforcement action against drivers contravening the law during their patrol duty," the spokesman said.
Members of the public are cordially invited to visit the roving exhibition, which will be open from 1.30pm to 9.30pm.
