The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) today (January 19) announced the appointment of Dr Theresa Li Tak-lai as Hospital Chief Executive of Shatin Hospital and Bradbury Hospice with effect from April 1.
Dr Li is a specialist in Anaesthesiology and Pain Management. She is currently the Chief Manager (Strategy, Planning and Service Transformation) of Kowloon Central Cluster (KCC) and Consultant of the Department of Anaesthesiology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Dr Li plays a key leading role in the annual planning cycle as well as driving the formulation of cluster initiatives for the KCC.
Dr Li was instrumental to the establishment of the first designated Joint Replacement Centre of HA in December 2010. The establishment of the Centre has resulted in a marked reduction in waiting time for surgery. In taking forward the service quality and safety of the KCC, Dr Li has also contributed significantly to the development of "lean management" in the cluster to streamline workflows in hospital operation. Various lean management initiatives were presented at the Hong Kong Management Association Award for Excellence in Training and Development and the cluster won the bronze prize and the Recruit Most Innovative Award.
HA Chief Executive Dr Leung Pak-yin congratulated Dr Li on her new appointment and wished her every success in taking up the new role.
