Special traffic and transport arrangements in the vicinity of Victoria Park for Lunar New Year's Eve
***********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (January 19) reminded the public that a series of special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of Victoria Park on Lunar New Year's Eve (January 22).

The special traffic and transport arrangements include:

1. Partial road closure in the vicinity of the Lunar New Year Fair in Victoria Park and implementation of traffic diversions.

2. Public transport services

Most public transport services including the MTR and trams will provide overnight services or extended services. To meet passenger needs, bus companies will operate 20 special bus route services, extend the services of four bus routes, strengthen the services of 38 bus routes and divert 41 bus routes in connection with the special traffic arrangements. Green minibus operators will extend the services of four routes and divert 10 routes in connection with the special traffic arrangements.

3. Suspension of some parking spaces.

4. Prohibition of vehicle access to all car parks and hotels within the closed roads. Vehicles parked in these car parks and hotels will not be permitted to leave until the roads are reopened.

People who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport as far as possible. In cases of traffic obstruction, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of instructions from the Police in the affected areas. The public should listen to radio and TV broadcasts for the latest traffic news.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For enquiries, please call the 1823 Call Centre (Tel: 1823).
