Police appeal for information on deception in Cheung Sha Wan (with photo)

     Police today (December 16) appealed to the public for information on a deception case in Cheung Sha Wan last year.

     A woman visited a tea product shop in Cheung Sha Wan in the afternoon of March 8, 2010 and alleged to purchase some tea products worth about $1.2 million. A man then deposited a cheque into the store's account at a bank in Kowloon Bay on the same day. Another man brought a pay-in slip to the store and picked up the goods on March 9, 2010. The shop owner later found that the money was failed to be transferred and made a report to Police on March 10, 2010.

     Police reviewed the footage captured by the CCTV at the bank and found the appearance of the man who deposited the cheque. The man was around 30, about 1.75 metres in height, of thin build and with short hair. He was wearing glasses with black frame, a black vest, a long-sleeved T-shirt with horizontal stripes, grey trousers, and black and white sports shoes.

     The case was classified as 'obtaining property by deception' and investigations by the District Investigation Team of Sham Shui Po are underway.

     Police urged anyone who has information about the man and the case to contact the investigating officers on 2360 7285.
