The Government announced today (September 2) that the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, had re-appointed Mr Jack So Chak-kwong as Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) for two years with effect from October 1, 2011.
Mr Tsang said Mr So had been an outstanding chairman for the TDC and an effective ambassador for Hong Kong.
"Under Mr So's able leadership, the TDC continues to be a valuable partner of Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises by assisting them in grasping the opportunities emerging in the Mainland market and other new markets. The TDC has successfully enhanced the image of Hong Kong brands in the Mainland and overseas. In light of the opportunities for Hong Kong's service sector arising from the National 12th Five-Year Plan, the TDC had also actively promoted Hong Kong's services sectors to Mainland enterprises.
"The re-appointment of Mr So as the Chairman will provide the TDC with continued strong leadership as it strives to assist Hong Kong's companies to grasp business opportunities through its well-received trade promotion activities," Mr Tsang said.
Mr So was first appointed TDC Chairman four years ago.
