Re-appointment of Chairman of Hong Kong Productivity Council

     The Government today (March 29) announced that the Chief Executive had re-appointed Mr Clement Chen Cheng-jen as Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) for two years starting from July 1, 2011.

     "Mr Chen has made a valuable contribution to the work of the HKPC since taking up the chairmanship 21 months ago. He has led the Council in further strengthening the support for local industry to meet market demands and seize opportunities from the developments in the Mainland. He has also made strenuous efforts to enhance the administration and governance of the public organisation to meet public aspirations," a government spokesman said. "We look forward to his continuous leadership in helping HKPC grow from strength to strength."

     Mr Chen was first appointed Chairman of the HKPC in July 2009.

     The HKPC was established in 1967 to promote increased productivity in Hong Kong.  Its role is to provide integrated support to innovative and growth-oriented Hong Kong firms across the value chain.  The main sectoral focus is on manufacturing, particularly in Hong Kong's foundation industries, and related service activities, and its main geographical focus is Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta.  The HKPC provides clients with a diverse range of support services in product development, consultancy, training and technology transfer.
