The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December last year showed an increase of 387 cases over November, representing an increase of 0.1%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released today (January 23).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 284,569 (see attached table), with 475,625 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed an increase of 1.0% in December to 31,772.
Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.7% to stand at 16,080.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.1% in December to 36,192.
Old age cases rose by 0.1% to 151,954, while ill health cases decreased by 0.2% to 24,440.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $18 billion for 2007-08.
