Chairman of Judicial Committee welcomes decision on new system for judicial remuneration

The following is issued on behalf of the Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service (Judicial Committee):

    The Chief Executive had earlier invited the Judicial Committee to undertake a study on the appropriate system for determining judicial remuneration, and, after consulting the Executive Council, decided today (May 20) to accept the major recommendations of the Committee.

    䩕We welcome the Chief Executive-in-Council﷿s decision to accept all the major recommendations of the Judicial Committee in respect of the institutional structure, mechanism and methodology for the determination of judicial remuneration.  We look forward to working with the Administration in implementing the recommendations,蒅 Chairman of the Judicial Committee, Mr Christopher Cheng Wai-chee said.

    䩕We are most grateful to all those who have contributed to the study by sharing valuable information and insight,蒅 Mr Cheng said.

    The Judicial Committee advises the Chief Executive on the pay and conditions of service of judicial officers.  The Judicial Committee is chaired by Mr Christopher Cheng Wai-chee, with Mr Henry Fan Hung-ling, Dr Victor Fung Kwok-king, Ms Jacqueline Pamela Leong and Mr Herbert Tsoi Hak-kong as members.
