United Nations Sanctions (Iran) (Amendment) Regulation 2008

    The Government today (May 9) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Iran) (Amendment) Regulation 2008.  The amendment regulation comes into immediate effect.

    䩕The amendment regulation amends the United Nations Sanctions (Iran) Regulation in order to implement the additional sanctions against Iran imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1803,蒅 a government spokesman said.

    The amendment regulation provides for:

* A prohibition against the supply, delivery, transfer and carriage to Iran of additional nuclear-related items, material, equipment, goods and technology;

* Additional requirements for the granting of a licence for the supply, delivery, transfer or carriage of certain nuclear-related items, material, equipment, goods and technology to Iran;

* A prohibition against making funds or other financial assets or economic resources available to additional persons or entities ; and

* A prohibition against entry into or transit through the HKSAR of certain persons.
