************************************************************

An announcement in the public interest (API) publicising the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong will premiere on TV tonight (April 3) .

The 30-second API explains that the Olympic Flame was relayed through Hong Kong before the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The API, with Cantonese, Putonghua and English versions, says Beijing will hold the Olympic Games this August and that the Olympic Flame will be carried from Greece to Beijing.

It urges viewers to welcome the Olympic Flame relay on May 2 in Hong Kong ﷿ the first stop back in China after its global journey through about 20 cities on five continents.

To further spread the message, there will be corresponding Cantonese, Putonghua and English versions broadcast on radio in the run-up to the torch relay in Hong Kong.

Publicity on the torch relay in Hong Kong will also be reinforced by thematic posters and banners to be displayed in various places. In addition, lamppost buntings have already been put up.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is staging roving exhibitions on the torch relay in 18 districts. The current exhibition is being held at Yat Tung Shopping Centre in Tung Chung until Monday (April 7).
