Ciroka Puppet Theatre brings Picasso's pictures to life
*******************************************************

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Family Fiesta 2008" will continue in mid-April with the production 䩕The Story of the Girl in Blue蒅 by Ciroka Puppet Theatre from Hungary.

The performance was inspired by Picasso's "Child with a dove", which is a masterpiece of the famous Spanish painter's blue period. The story is about a little girl, who, stepping out of a painting, discovers the world  around her. She watches this world with openness and childish curiosity.

In "The Story of the Girl in Blue", many of Picasso's pictures are cleverly presented by puppets of various kinds, video projection and toys so as to acquaint children with Picasso and to introduce them into an exciting game. In this world of fantasy, puppets and images meld  together, and the miracles come one after another. Since its premi㋳re in 2006, "The Story of the Girl in Blue" has been performed in several international festivals, and in Bulgaria, Slovakia, Greece, the UK and the Czech Republic.

Ciroka Puppet Theatre, one of the 13 state-financed puppet theatres in Hungary, has gained substantial experience in almost all puppet theatre genres and art forms during its 50 years of existence. Its primary goal is to endear theatre to children, to use high quality performances to cultivate  public interest in theatre, and to turn theatre into part of everyday life. During the past decade Ciroka Puppet Theatre performed in 20 national and 27 international festivals, and received numerous awards.
