Hong Kong Flower Show 2008 attracts over 548,000 visitors (With photo)

    Over 548,000 people visited the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) from March 14 to 24 at Victoria Park, an increase of some 21,000 visitors compared with the attendance last year.

    As part of its efforts to promote greening, the LCSD has started to distribute the plants in good condition to various gardens and parks managed by the department, schools and charity organisations so that they can be continue to be enjoyed by the public.

    More than 200 organisations from 21 countries participated in the flower show. They were from the Mainland, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Estonia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, among which Canada, New Zealand, Estonia, the United States of America and Russia were participating in the show for the first time.

    A series of fringe activities, such as music and dance performances, floral art demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, green talks and fun games, were also held to complement the flower show.
