Kwun Tong restaurant ordered to suspend business

    The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kwun Tong to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

     The restaurant, on Ground Floor, No 24 Yan Oi Court, was ordered to suspend business from today (January 31) to February 13, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

     "In July and October last year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

     "A total fine of $18,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

     He said there were also two convictions in November, 2005, and January, 2006,in respect of dirty food premises and illegal extension of food business regarding the same restaurant.

     "A total fine of $8,500 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from May 22 to 28 last year," the spokesman said.

     He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
