Students invited to enter flower show drawing competition (with photo)

    Primary and Secondary school students interested in joining the Nanyang Commercial Bank Student Drawing Competition of Hong Kong Flower Show 2007 are now invited to enrol through their schools.

     Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the competition will be held on March 16 (Friday) from 9am to noon at Victoria Park.

     The competition will feature students' drawings of exquisite flowers and unique garden displays in the showground with a view to enhancing their awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.

     Entries should be associated with "Hong Kong Flower Show 2007". Participants may depict any flowers or garden displays in the showground by means of sketching or other forms of drawing and painting.

     The competition will be conducted in four categories, they are the Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three); Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six); Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three); and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Seven).

     In addition to the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, 10 entrants will be highly commended and 30 will be awarded certificates of merit in each category. There will also be an overall champion both in the Primary School Section and the Secondary School Section.

     A prospectus and entry form can be downloaded from LCSD's website, www.lcsd.gov.hk. Completed forms should be sent to the "Chairman of Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2007" at the Shroff Office, Boundary Street Sports Centre, 200 Sai Yee Street, Kowloon, or submitted by fax (27876310) by February 8 (Thursday).

     The champion, 1st and 2nd runners-up and those highly commended will have their drawings exhibited at the showground at Victoria Park from March 17 to 25. All winning entries will then be exhibited at the Kowloon Park Arcade and will also available for viewing at LCSD's website between April 2 and 29.
