Third air cargo terminal to be completed in 2011

    In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Economic Development and Labour Bureau said today (January 10) that the third air cargo terminal at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) was expected to be completed by 2011.

     Replying to a supplementary question on the third air cargo terminal by the Hon Lau Kong-wah in the Legislative Council today, the Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, Mr Stephen Ip, said that the work would be completed in 2008. Mr Ip clarified after the meeting that the tendering procedures would be completed in 2008. As the design and construction work would take about three years, the new air cargo terminal was expected to be completed for operation in 2011.
