Cantonese Music Virtuosi a feature performance

    One of the focus attractions of the Music of the Guangdong Region Series, "Cantonese Music Virtuosi of Guangdong and Hong Kong in Concert" will be staged next month (February).

     The concert, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is performed by Yin Ngai Opera & Musical Troupe of Hong Kong featuring renowned Chinese music instrument players such as Gan Shangshi (Yuehu). He is honoured recipient of the title "Expert with Outstanding Congribution" presented by the State Council of China. Other performers include Tsoi Wing-hong (Yangqin and Violin), Chan Ki-cham (Yangqin),  Huang Jincheng (Dongxiao and Xun), Chung Pang-sui (Sanxian), Chen Haobo (Yuehu), Pang Wai-kei (Dizi), Lo Ching (Yangqin) and Lau Mo-kit (Yangqin).

     An enriched programme including classical ensembles and solos "Stepping High", "Weaving a Rainbow Miles Long", "A Song of Triumph", "Autumn Moon on a Placid Lake", "Lover's Sorrow", which will bring Chinese music lovers an unforgettable evening.

     Yin Ngai Opera and Musical Troupe of Hong Kong was established in 1988, with the veteran Cantonese music player Tsoi Wing-hong as its Music Director. Vocalists in the troupe are amateur aficionados of Cantonese operatic arias, while the ensemble section is made up of young musicians from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as well as professional musicians and veteran coaches in Cantonese operatic arias. The troupe has performed with renowned artists, and has given many concerts of Cantonese music and operatic songs.

     "Cantonese Music Virtuosi of Guangdong and Hong Kong in Concert" will be staged at 8pm, February 3 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre. Tickets priced at $150, $110 and $80 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for students Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
