*********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 22) obtained two orders in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $780,000 against two employers. The MPFA also pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $44,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The District Court issued judgments against 3Togo.com Limited and Samlane Human Resources Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $466,548.71 and $322,255.55, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 19 and 41 employees of the defendants respectively.

At the Tribunal's hearing, the defendants - Chinese Club Discount Centre Limited, Kwan Chung Hon trading as Mei Mei Fast Food Restaurant and Bash Building Materials Company Limited (formerly known as Hairunda Glass Company Limited) - did not appear.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $37,259.3, $4,830 and $1,610.02, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the Tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the Tribunal respectively further awarded payments of $930 for each of the District Court case and $190, $90 and $290 as the costs in respect of the claims.
