Wan Chai restaurant ordered to suspend business
***********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Wan Chai to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at G/F, 16 Wun Sha Street, Wan Chai, was ordered to suspend business from today (December 18) to December 31, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In July and August this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A fine of $5,500 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that the restaurant also had convictions in March and June for the same offence.

"A total fine of $6,600 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 20 to 26 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
