***********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of The Equestrian Company:

Members of the public will have an opportunity to have a foretaste of equestrian events ﷿ almost two years ahead of the 2008 Olympics.

In support of the 2008 Olympics Equestrian Events to be staged in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation is organising a series of promotional programmes on equestrian sport which kicks off on Sunday (December 17).

Chief Executive Officer of the Equestrian Company, Mr Lam Woon-kwong, will be the officiating guest at the kick-off ceremony to be held in Tuen Mun Public Riding School, at Lot 45, Lung Mun Road, Tuen Mun, New Territories, starting 2pm.

A team from the Riding for the Disabled Association will perform dressage to music. There will also be a vaulting demonstration and mirror jumping demonstration.

The kick-off event will comprise both the opening ceremony itself and a tour of the school by both the public and invited students.

The occasion will also mark the 600-day countdown to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Members of the public are invited to visit the school for the event, which is free of charge.

Meanwhile, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's New Year's Eve Countdown Carnival will include a three-day equestrian exhibition to be held in Sha Tin, beginning on December 30. The event will feature demonstration and experience-sharing by Hong Kong's own Paralympics rider Nelson Yip.
