Two employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment
********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 12) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $30,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The defendants, Wealthy Step Development Limited trading as Wan Yu Cleaning Services Co. and From Leader Company Limited trading as Tomozuna Japanese Noodle Shop, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $22,365 and $7,159.5, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Tribunal further awarded payments of $126 and $106 as the costs in respect of the claims.
