The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) in the District Court today (December 11) obtained an order for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of around $140,000 against an employer.
The District Court today issued judgment against an employer, U-Sing Industrial Company Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $146,419.74, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to six employees. The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA.
The District Court also ordered the defendant to pay the MPFA $5,000 as financial penalty and $930 as costs in respect of the claim.
